Struggling Teams

Hi
I have been drafted in to create a team building day for a team that have struggled to gel since Covid. Now that many are working remotely (some established members and some very new), there seems to be tittle tattle between them, blame for errors instead of support, general unkindness and lack of consideration. The managers want me to build a fun day for them in order to get them to realise they all need each other, and working together is far more productive (in many ways) than working against each other. I have some ideas of where I want to go with this, however I thought it would be a good opportunity to test some of the new resources and suggestions from my peers.

Please feel free to give me some examples/suggestions of fun activities which may be useful. Thankyou

Hi, you could take a look at Lenconi's 5 dysfunctions in teams - might be interesting for them to look at the behaviours you might see in each of the dysfunctions and the impact of them, and then ask them to rate their own behaviours against that, and then a round of STOP START CONTINUE?

Thank you. I have already planned some discovery psychometrics, and 'Breaking out of Boxes' which will help them discover things in common with their colleagues. 5 Dysfunctions is a very good suggestion. Do you have any successful activities based on the 5 Dysfunctions model you would be willing to share?

Hi Tracy,
I have had similar briefs many times over the last two years. Some of the models I have used to support teams that have been effective are Five Dysfunctions of a Team and Insights Discovery Psychometric. Can use any psychometric. A good charter profile where people get to share bits about themselves really helps.
I have used Five Dysfunctions as the serious part to get them to realise how much they need to work together and then the psychometric to have some fun developing self awareness and awareness of others. You can then combine some of the team building games in Trainers Library as mentioned by Zoe would make it a good, fun and engaging day.

Happy to talk through if you wanted to.

Hi Tracy,

Have you had a look at the team building games in Trainers' Library? In particular, The Wheel and His Lordship’s Garden Party - Strategy and Teamwork could work well as part of the day.

Let me know if you need more help finding materials.

Thanks,
Zoe

Hi Tracy, I've got a few fun things you could do including soft balls, Lego and more. Feel free to drop me a line at [email protected] and we can take it from there.
