Hi there

I have been asked to facilitate a session for a client with their managers looking at the following:

1. What do we do well?
2. What do we need to work on?
3. What are the opportunities we have?
4. What are the risks we face (internal and external)?
5. If you could change anything tomorrow to help you, what would that be?
6. What are the priorities / things we want to achieve for the coming year? How do we do this?

Does anyone have any tips on making this interactive and learning activity as much as a feedback one?

Thanks

Hi Sue, I would be happy to chat about this if that would help. I would suggest one of the tools that you use is a SWOT analysis. This can be great fun and can be done as a group with lots of post-it notes, brightly coloured pens, etc. It can also be done at a lower level, e.g., their department, then shared with others in the room. I've also used a piece of rope (or you can use laminted cards) with each of your headings so that people can move around the room starting with Where are we today? Ask people to explain what they see/hear & feel in the organisation. Get them to create as rich a picture as you can. Then move them along asking them to time travel (the act of walking really helps with this) to the future - What does the future look like? Again what do you see, what is being said, how do you feel? This is really interactive and engaging and I have found that it suits all learning styles. Finally, I use a roll of paper (you can use plain wallpaper for this) along a wall or floor and get the team to capture on a timeline what now needs to happen and when. I use post-it notes for this as they can lift and move (as often happens) until they feel the picture is right for them. You can use different coloured post-it notes for different categories, e.g., Yellow - People, Pink - Technology, etc. Hope this helps. Pauline
